YEARS
OF EXPERIENCE
My name is Mary Humphreys and I have been an amputee for just over 30 years. As an amputee I have raised 2 children and held down a full-time career, initially as a hairdresser, and currently I run my own cake decorating business. I am an active member of my local amputee society in Wellington and am currently Vice-President of the Federation.
My hobbies include many activities, including cycling. I have always been keen to try anything and have been skiing, kayaking, zip-lining, skydiving, paddle-boarding, para-sailing, disabled sailing, horse-riding, golf and many more. I have always advocated to amputees that being disabled does not mean that you cannot give something a go, and that you need to challenge yourself constantly.
