The Amputees Federation of New Zealand Incorporated is a nation-wide, non-government, non-profit voluntary organisation. The Federation is governed by a National Executive elected annually by a National Council.
Objectives and Goals
The primary objective of the Federation is to support and promote the welfare of all amputees. This includes offering peer support and encouragement when the going gets tough.
- Providing immediate support to new amputees, aiding families through amputation trauma. Emotional, practical support to navigate this change, ensuring care and understanding for each journey.
- Ongoing support for all amputees: education, advice on rehab, and building social/physical networks. Aimed at empowering amputees towards a quality lifestyle and effective community integration.
- Ensuring amputees access the best artificial limbs and aids, with thorough training for optimal use. Committed to the highest standards of support and technology for amputee empowerment and autonomy.
- Fostering connections, liaising with health professionals, government, and community groups to advocate for amputee welfare. Strengthening networks to promote well-being and inclusivity for all amputees.
