Founded in 1944, the Otago/Southland Society is among the inaugural eight societies affiliated with the Amputees Federation of New Zealand Inc. With around 200 members, it is overseen by a Dunedin-based committee, which includes representatives from Southland and regions beyond Dunedin.

This Society was dissolved on 15 February 2020.
